Reporter arrested for committing journalism

Remember that anti-Occupy Wall Street law you didn’t care about when it was passed almost unanimously by our Korrupt Korporate Kongress in 2012, and signed into law by our Korrupt Korporate President?

No?

Well, maybe you should have been paying more attention.

Because this shameful legislation was just used to justify the arrest of Public News Service producer Dan Heyman for trying to question U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price. The journalism lifer was accused of “aggressively breaching the Secret Service” bubble around Price and Presidential Propagandist Kellyanne Conway in the West Virginia capitol building on Tuesday, charged with willful disruption of government processes, and released on a $5,000 bond.

Apparently, the authorities didn’t think the white-haired and bespectacled Heyman represented much of a flight risk, or a clear and present danger to the public. Price, not so much.

“Today was a dark day for democracy,” the American Civil Liberties Union said in a statement. “A blatant attempt to chill an independent, free press.”

“By asking Tom Price and Kellyanne Conway whether domestic violence was considered a pre-existing condition under President Trump’s health care proposal, Dan Heyman was doing his job as a reporter.”

Heyman said it was his first arrest. The criminal complaint accused him of committing journalism while stone sober “by yelling questions” at Price and Conway. The treasonous duo were so intimidated they completely ignored him.

The normally mild-mannered Heyman was seen yelling “fuck the police” immediately after his release as he led a riot in support of the freedom of the press (click pic at left for video).

Not.

But it would have been funny if he had.

“It’s dreadful,” Heyman actually said afterward. “This is my job. This is what I’m supposed to do. I’m supposed to find out if someone is going to be affected by this healthcare law … I think it is a question that deserves to be answered.”

Heyman has worked as a reporter for about 30 years, and his stories have appeared in the New York Times, National Public Radio, and other national news outlets. He’s worked for Public News Service since 2009. The nonprofit news service provides content to media outlets while also publishing its own stories.

Heyman is typical of the unsung journalism heroes who quietly and habitually work their asses off for the public – that’s you – for peanuts. Producing public service journalism that is the difference between your understanding the world and being the unwitting tools of predatory monied interests.

People like the journalism lifers who make up a large part of our volunteer staff here at The Cynical Times. Many of us have been cast aside in recent years by news organizations which have been purchased by private equity funds and hedge funds – the most predatory Wall Street firms.

Heyman is also typical of the unsung journalism lifers now being killed and injured by tyrants around the globe. They’ll do anything  to hold onto power in the midst of the huge changes being wrought by The Internet and automation.

Like Michael Hastings, the baby journalist who wrote the “Runaway General” article for Rolling Stone magazine which led to Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s (U.S. Army retired) resignation in 2010. Hasting died in 2013 in a mysterious single car accident in Los Angeles at the age of 33.

Price could not be reached for comment about the cowardly arrest of Heyman. Mostly because the courageous members of our volunteer staff were too fearful of being arrested to actually question this royal wannabee.

However, Price and Conway did respond to our psychic requests for comment.

“God I love leather,” Price said telepathically. “I do a lot of yoga and I’m really, really flexible. So much so that I’ve reached the point where I’m on the cusp of sucking my own cock.”

Conway echoed Price’s comments as she spoke from a list of GOP talking points.

“I am also on the cusp of sucking my own cock,” she said.

That’s a pic of them at left. We’re not sure who’s who.

Was Heyman’s arrest an unintended consequence of the anti-Occupy law?

No.

This police state bullshit was what was intended all along by the financial royals of our new world order and their loyal retainers. Like the reptilian Conway, who was arrested for aggravated battery in college after former beau Peter Quill dumped her for “a smoking hot” Rajak girl. Conway allegedly stabbed him with a fork.

The new KKK does not do burdens, consequences or accountability. Only privileges and benefits. They do not lead by example. That feels too much like work, according to Price.

And why should they when the American public – that’s you – is so easily deceived by knowing lies?

Outside, it’s Amerika.

Where the anti-Occupy law makes it illegal to protest anyone protected by The Secret Service. AKA any political hooker who sells the rest of us out to line their own pockets as part of the corporate protection racket now masquerading as “representative democracy” in our nation’s capital.

Heyman’s crime?

Trying to get Price to tell the public – that’s you – whether domestic violence would be treated as a pre-existing condition by the Republican’s new health plan. The conservative physician made a name for himself by ruthlessly exploiting the medically needy to maximize healthcare profits. He doesn’t like when commoners get saucy with him.

“Legitimate propagandists – I mean journalists – allow me to edit their questions before an interview so I can control the process,” Price said in a telepathic statement. “Heyman didn’t do that.”

Price runs an immense government empire with an annual budget of $1.02 trillion of your dollars and 79,000 staffers. He would like to do so without the benefit of public scrutiny – that’s you again.

HHS oversees the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control, Food and Drug Administration, Health Resources and Services Administration, Indian Health Service, and Prevention, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Administration for Children and Families and the Administration for Community Living.

The agency is “no big whoop,” according to Dr. Dougie Powers (right), Price’s mentor and personal spirit guide.

Why was Heyman’s arrest necessary?

Because rich Americans are very sensitive to the painful truth that they have been screwing the rest of us over and hijacking our democracy since 9/11, in the name of “national security.”

Especially those who sold out to Wall Street to secure a seat in a Kongress whose 535 members have a median income of $1.02 million and have excluded themselves from term limits and our nation’s laws against insider trading. These parasites have given themselves free healthcare for life and generous pensions, and habitually accept corporate bribe money in the guise of excessive speaking fees and charitable donations.

How do millionaires represent the people of a nation with a median income of about $52,000, in which many of us have no money at all or even a negative net worth?

They don’t.

They represent the corporations laying us off and stealing our homes. They’re not on our side and they’re not good people.

Welcome to corporate oligarchy. It’s just like living in a dictatorship, but with corporations calling the shots instead of people. Then again, legally they’re people.

Even better, according to the United States Supreme Court’s treasonous ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission in 2010. The “business friendly” court determined that corporate bribery is a form of free speech which must be protected and unfettered.

I shit you not.

Outside it’s Amerika.

Where the 99 Percent count for nothing and don’t even seem to know it.

President Donald Trump defended Heyman’s arrest in a poorly spelled tweet issued overnight.

“I invended sucking your own cok,” Trump said. “Nobode does it beda than me,”

Writers have been struggling to expose the knowing lies of the Predatory 1 Percent for centuries in ways that are understandable to the rest of us. No one has ever done it better than comedian George Carlin and novelist Peter Gent.

The latter expressed the frustration of professional football players in the iconic book and film “North Dallas Forty.” However, he could just as easily have been talking about workers and owners, or soldiers and the political hookers who send them into harm’s way to enhance corporate profit growth.

“We’re not the team,” one player lamented during a meeting with ownership. “You’re the team. We’re only the equipment – like the jockstraps and the helmets.”

Another player ripped the knowing lies of a duplicitous coach, seeking to escape his share of the blame for a big loss.

“That’s just what I mean, you bastard,” the player said. “Every time I call it a game, you call it a business. And every time I call it a business, you call it a game.”

Corporate managers and their political hookers engage in the same knowing lies when they appeal to our patriotism as Americans in this increasingly inhuman society. As if we’re all on the same team.

The painful truth is that we’re only “in it together” when there’s something in it for them. The rest of the time, the poor and middle class are on their own with the “profits over people” crowd.

The current failed generation of American elites neither leads by example nor shares in our national suffering. They don’t do burdens. Just benefits.

Nation?

What nation?

The United States is not even a functional society any more, much less a democracy.

Why?

Because the Country Club garbage that passes for leadership in this country is worthless and weak, and very, very sheltered. Case in point, the incredible delusion of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Both of whom are clearly blind to the state of the world outside their sheltered circle of fawning lackeys.

The American public – that’s you – deserves better.

Carlin said it best in his epic “American Dream” rant, when he explained why America is finished in terms even a moron – you again – can understand.

“The real owners are the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions,” Carlin said. “Forget the politicians, they’re an irrelevancy. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t.

“You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything.

“They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the statehouses, the city halls. They’ve got the judges in their back pockets. And they own all the big media companies, so that they control just about all of the news and information you hear. “

“They’ve got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want; they want more for themselves and less for everybody else.”

“But I’ll tell you what they don’t want. They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that.

“That doesn’t help them. That’s against their interests. They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around the kitchen table and figure out how badly they’re getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago.

“You know what they want?

“Obedient workers. People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork but just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it.

“And, now, they’re coming for your Social Security. They want your fucking retirement money. They want it back, so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street.

“And you know something? They’ll get it. They’ll get it all, sooner or later, because they own this fucking place. It’s a big club, and you ain’t in it. You and I are not in the big club.”

In short, our vaunted two-party system is now a one party system. The Party of Wall Street.

You are not a member. Regardless of which of the two big political machines you support.

Figure it out.
