You have to love the disingenuous words that business leaders construct for policies that are going to hurt large numbers of gullible voters. One of the best is on display in this story. It’s the phrase “make American more competitive.” What that really translates into is paying American workers wages that are more in line with those received by their counterparts in India, Mexico and China.
That way, CEOs at publicly traded companies can keep the annual profit growth scam rolling just a few years longer, by paying low wages here and pocketing trans-Pacific transportation costs. Trust me, they’re not talking about making us more competitive with the socialist nations in Scandinavia, where capitalism is alive and well, and people are taken care of, but CEOs don’t walk around like kings.
